A Tradition of Helping Seniors Enjoy the Holidays

This season, local community members in Etobcoke can give holiday cheer to area seniors by participating in the Be a Santa to a Senior®program.

The popular campaign, that for the past 10 years has delivered thousands of gifts to local seniors, is being executed again this holiday season. The program – run by the Etobicoke Home Instead Senior Care office in partnership with Shoppers Home Health Care, Tapestry Village Gate West and The Etobicoke Services for Seniors (ESS) – provides gifts and companionship to seniors in the community during the holiday season.

Be a Santa to a Senior gives back to older adults in our area, many of whom have had significant, positive influence on our lives,” said Brenda Enright, owner of Home Instead Senior Care Etobicoke. “During this season of giving, we encourage local residents to say thank you to these community members by donating a gift.”

Christmas trees will be placed at Shoppers Home Health Care (Six Points Plaza, 5230 Dundas St. W.) and Tapestry Village Gate West (15 Summerland Terrace) starting November 21st and will feature paper ornaments with the first name of the senior and their gift request. Local community members can pick up an ornament, buy the requested item and return it unwrapped, with the ornament attached.

The Etobicoke Home Instead Senior Care office will enlist volunteers to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts to local seniors.
